Arsenal Hill

Arsenal Hill is named for the military academy established in Columbia in 1842. Arsenal Hill is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as “Columbia Historic District 1.” Arsenal Hill was one of the first residential neighborhoods in the city and was the site of an arsenal during the Civil War. Bounded by Elmwood Avenue, Assembly, Taylor and Huger streets, this neighborhood is situated at the highest point in the city, making it desirable to residents.

Arsenal Hill is in the Richland One School District and students would attend Rhame Elementary St. Andrews Middle and Columbia High Schools.
